TRENTON, N.J. -- LeBron James returned to the basketball court Saturday night and showed everyone why he might be the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft.

Playing his first game since a judge restored his high school eligibility, James scored a career-high 52 to lead Akron's St. Vincent-St. Mary, ranked No.1 by USA Today, over No.7 Westchester of Los Angeles 78-52 in the Prime Time Shootout.

"This court, this basketball court, is like my house. I think missing a game last week gave me a little more motivation," said James, who sat out Sunday after the Ohio High School Athletic Association ruled him ineligible for accepting two jerseys from a clothing store.

WINTER SPORTS:

Rodriguez third overall

American Jennifer Rodriguez won the 500-meter race and was third in the women's standings, and Derek Parra was 10th in the men's standings at the World All-Around Speedskating Championships in Goteborg, Sweden. Rodriguez won the women's sprint ahead of overall leader Cindy Klassen of Canada.

SHORT-TRACK SPEED SKATING: Apolo Anton Ohno was disqualified for the second day in a row as Canada swept a World Cup 500-meter race in Utah.

DOWNHILL: American Bode Miller failed to keep up his medal streak, finishing 16th at the World Championship in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

FREESTYLE: Jeremy Bloom, who missed the start of the season to play college football at Colorado, won a moguls World Cup race in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

LUGE: Americans Mark Grimmette and Brian Martin won the World Cup doubles title after tying for first in Winterberg, Germany.

SOCCER

Argentina tops United States

Spurred on by a crowd of 27,196, seemingly all clad in the visitors' light blue and white, Argentina dominated the opening moments and made a ninth-minute goal stand up for 1-0 victory over the United States at the Orange Bowl.

ET CETERA

HORSES: Boston Party led wire to wire and beat Grey Comet by a length in the $81,350 Whirlaway Stakes for 3-year-olds at Aqueduct in New York. ... Got Koko rallied to beat Sightseek by three-quarters of a length in the $200,000 La Canada Stakes, sweeping Santa Anita's La Canada series for 4-year-old fillies. Got Koko won the 7-furlong La Brea Stakes on Dec. 28 and the 11/16-mile El Encino Stakes on Jan. 19. Only Taisez Vous in 1978 and Mitterand in 1985 have swept the series.

OLYMPICS: Lloyd Ward will forfeit a $184,800 bonus for an ethics violation that sparked another U.S. Olympic Committee scandal, but he will remain as the group's chief executive officer.
