SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Kent Williams drove the lane and sank an off-balance 5-foot jumper with 1.9 seconds left to lift Southern Illinois over Southwest Missouri State on Saturday night.
Monwell Randle caught a long inbounds pass at the top of the key and had a chance to win it for the Bears, but his jumper hit the rim and backboard before rolling out.
Williams, who led the Salukis with 19 points, capped a rally that saw SIU wipe out a five-point deficit with 1:11 remaining. He scored the last four of the game, two after being fouled on a 3-point attempt with seven seconds left.
SIU (16-4, 11-1 MVC) won its sixth straight and remained tied for first in the conference with 13th-ranked Creighton, which visits March 1.
UP NEXT: Northern Iowa, 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
