Eagles soar to SSFL win over LeesburgBy BRANT JAMES, Times Staff Writer© St. Petersburg Times published February 11, 2003 BROOKSVILLE -- The Hernando Eagles responded to their first Southern States Football League loss of the season by walloping the Leesburg Trojans 50-13 on Saturday at Tom Fisher Stadium. The Eagles (2-1) stayed perfect at home, dropping the Trojans' record to 1-1. "We really corrected all our mistakes me made (in a 6-3 loss last week) against Orlando," Hernando coach Shawn Bingham said. "When we broke down the film, everyone really saw the mistakes we made and worked on them. The intensity from practice really carried over into the game." Hernando got touchdowns from quarterback Anthony Crescenzo -- 70 yards to Willie Farmer and 35 to Abraham Dowdell -- rushing scores from Jerome Tillman and Terry Clark and a 50-yard fumble return for a TD from Brian Williams. The Eagles are idle this week. "We'll rest and do some conditioning," Bingham said. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
