Logjam: 32 apply for 2 judgeships

INVERNESS -- The Inverness city attorney and one of the region's top prosecutors are among the candidates for two open judge positions in the 5th Judicial Circuit. Thirty-two men and women have applied for the judgeships. One will be based full time in Lake County, while the other will rotate among Citrus, Hernando and Sumter counties, according to Gov. Jeb Bush's office. Among the applicants are Denise Lyn, who serves as the Inverness city attorney, and Don Scaglione, who prosecutes first-degree murder cases in the 5th Judicial Circuit. The applications were due Wednesday. Now members of the circuit's Judicial Nominating Commission will conduct interviews. They will select three nominees for each slot. The selections must be sent to Bush's office by March 3. Other Citrus candidates include Glen Abbott of Homosassa, Thomas Lee Boll of Inverness and Caroline Anne Falvey of Crystal River. The other candidates are Mary Pavloff Attridge, Hugh Adolphus Davis II, Patricia Ann Doherty, Lucille M. Espey-Francis, Patricia Tierney Gross, Harry Thomas Hackney, William Henry Hallman III, Curtis Burt Herrick, Robert Gregory King, William Edward Lackay, Larry Edward Metz, Sanford Arthur Minkoff, Michelle T. Morley, Mark Anthony Nacke, Terry T. Neal, Carla Rae Pepperman, Willard Ira Pope, Elizabeth Bitterman Purdy, Scott Lewis Roti, Joseph Blakely Sowell, Susan Tischlinger Sullivan, William Edward Tabor Jr., Michael G. Takac, Gene Buckingham Toner, Carol Ann Volini and Wesley Scott Wynn.
