Student at WTI altered ID cards, detectives sayBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published February 15, 2003 INVERNESS -- Authorities on Thursday arrested a 20-year-old Withlacoochee Technical Institute student on charges that he altered Florida identification cards for students younger than 21. Students at Citrus High School and WTI helped Citrus County Sheriff's Office detectives catch James Michael Crossley, 6199 W Heritage, Homosassa, an arrest report said. With a razor blade and packing tape, Crossley changed birth dates, removed under-21 designations and changed identification numbers, which include birth years, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Tierney. Crossley altered at least six students' cards, which were used to gain admission into bars and clubs. He was charged with five counts of unlawful sale or issuance of Florida identification cards.
