REDINGTON BEACH -- The kickoff to the town's resurrected neighborhood crime watch program will feature food and fun.

The kickoff party will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 23. The featured speaker, expected to be a representative from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, which handles law enforcement in Redington Beach, will talk to the gathering at 2:30 p.m.

The town is planning enough food and activities for as many as 500 people. The event will take place at Town Park, at the intersection of Gulf Boulevard and 164th Avenue.

Tim Gregson, the town commissioner for public safety in Redington Beach, said the neighborhood watch program is being revived after a few years of dormancy.
