Recasting conceptions about glass

An exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg is a survey of American and international studio glass artists (see page XXW), but in Florida, we have fine practitioners, too. Susan Gott, Paul Larned and Duncan McClellan were commissioned by the Gulf Coast Museum of Art to create an outdoor installation, shown above, in place through April 13. All three artists work with hot glass, sculpting it and combining it with other materials. The untitled work's location in the outdoor sculpture garden is another example of the medium's versatility. Gulf Coast Museum of Art is at 12211 Walsingham Road, Largo. (727) 518-6833.
