Here's a look at some new businesses setting up shop in the area:
STRUCK WITH LUCK: Osprey Bay Kayaks at 48 Dickman Drive on U.S. 41 in Ruskin is selling kayaks, adventure gear and canoes -- everything to prepare you for kayaking, hiking and camping. The store opened in August, but was struck by lightning. The operation is in a trailer while repairs are being made. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. 635-7600.
BIGGER AND BETTER: Shapes Total Fitness for Women is planning an April opening in the Oak Park Plaza at Lumsden Road and Kings Avenue. The new Brandon center will have a swimming pool, hot tub and steam room. It will replace the center at 1609 W Brandon Blvd., but the old location will not close until the Oak Park center is operational. The new center will have more parking, new fitness equipment and a wood floor in the aerobic area. Hours at both locations: 5:15 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. 661-0033.
SIGNATURE STYLE: American Signature Home on Jan. 31 opened its eighth store, at 161 Brandon Town Center Drive. The store offers furniture collections. It is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m Sunday. 315-1120.
ARTS 'N CRAFTS: Find framed original arts, sculptures, pottery, mosaics, and more at The Crafts Boutique, which has opened at 11363 Big Bend Road in Riverview. The boutique features the works of more than 60 artists. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. 741-2241.
