Osceola got everything it could hope for at at South Florida Community College in Avon Park.
Well, almost everything.
The Warriors placed fourth with 112 1/2 points, and though well behind the dramatic finish of the frontrunners -- Jesuit edged Sebring 154-153 for the title -- Osceola coach Ron Spataro was extremely happy.
"We were second, third or fourth as a team throughout the tournament and if some things would have gone differently in a few matches, who knows, we might have had a shot (at winning regionals)," Osceola coach Ron Spataro said. "Overall we're very, very happy. We competed very well."
Osceola's top finisher was Josh Langdon who placed second after a hard-fought 3-1 loss to one of the state's top wrestlers at 152 pounds, Jeff Baker of Bradenton Southeast.
"Langdon is on fire right now," Spataro said. "Who knows what he could do at the state tournament with the way he's wrestling?
"He has a lot of momentum and I mean he wrestled great in this regional tournament."
Just behind Langdon as Warrior state qualifiers were Mike Thompson (130 pounds) and Mike Houle (171), who placed third. Dan Smalley also made it at 140 pounds with a fourth-place finish.
