All that jazz

The University of South Florida's Distinguished Master Artist series begins with a free jazz workshop at 2 p.m. March 4 by jazz pianist, composer and arranger Dick Hyman.

The Distinguished Master Artist Series is a cooperative program between the Institute on Aging and the College of Visual and Performing Arts at USF. The purpose of the project is to bring visual and performing artists over age 65 to USF as artists in residence.

The workshop takes place at 4204 E Folwer Ave., Theater 1 on the campus of USF.

Ride of his life

Jay Morgan, Office on Aging Manager, will hit the road at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday for the "Center of Attention Bicycle Tour." The tour begins at the Sunshine Senior Center, 330 Fifth St. N, St. Petersburg and goes to the Tarpon Springs Community Center and back.

The approximate 100-mile ride is a way to bring attention to the importance of senior centers and other older adult activity centers in Pinellas and Pasco counties. Riders are welcome to join Morgan at various stops along the route. Information: (727) 893-7102.

Dance fever

"A Starlit Night of Vintage Hollywood" takes place 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pinecrest Place retirement community, 1150 Eighth Ave. SW, Largo. Reminisce about the Golden Age of Hollywood and tour the renovated facility. Admission is free. Information: (727) 581-8142.

Good sports

The Suncoast Young at Heart Rally will be 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. March 6 at First Christian Church of Clearwater, 2299 Drew St., Clearwater. The event is for anyone 50 and older. There will be speakers, music, food and prizes. Enter the Crazy Hat and Wild Tie contests. Fee: $15. Information: (727) 784-3584.
