BOSTON -- Bill Guerin was productive in his return to Boston. His team's defense wasn't.

Glen Murray scored twice, including a power-play tally with 1:40 left, and Brian Rolston also scored twice to lift the Bruins to a 5-5 tie with the Stars on Tuesday night.

Murray's one-timer on a cross-ice pass from Joe Thornton beat Dallas goalie Ron Tugnutt. Dallas took a 5-4 lead midway through the third on Claude Lemieux's backhander.

Former Bruins forward Guerin, who signed with Dallas in the offseason, slipped the puck under Steve Shields 38 seconds into the third to give Dallas a 4-2 lead. Rolston scored his second of the game short-handed, beating Tugnutt on a breakaway 3:38 into the third to bring Boston within 4-3. Murray tied it at 4 with a goal 7:53 in.

"Special teams has really been what's kept us from winning games instead of tying them," said Guerin, whose Stars have a league-leading 15 ties this season.

DEVILS 3, RANGERS 3: Petr Nedved scored on a power play with 4:28 left to help visiting New York salvage a point. Bobby Holik, who played with the Devils for 10 seasons before signing with New York, made his return to New Jersey, had four shots and was booed every time he touched the puck.

MAPLE LEAFS 5, ISLANDERS 2: Mats Sundin scored his 29th and 30th goals of the season in the second period for host Toronto. He redeemed himself after losing the puck on a penalty shot attempt earlier in the second.

PREDATORS 5, BLUE JACKETS 0: Tomas Vokoun made 19 saves for his second shutout this season and five players scored for host Nashville, 5-1 in its past six. Columbus has lost six in a row.

WILD 3, SENATORS 0: Dwayne Roloson stopped 28 shots to earn his second shutout in three starts for Minnesota. Ottawa, which leads the league with 203 goals and 39 wins in 64 games, had not been shut out at home since losing 2-0 to New Jersey on Dec. 15, 2001.

KINGS 5, PENGUINS 3: Ziggy Palffy and Bryan Smolinski each scored twice for visiting Los Angeles, which erased a 2-0 deficit. Smolinski scored the Kings' fourth consecutive goal early in the third to make it 4-2, then answered Mario Lemieux's second goal of the game by scoring again 37 seconds later.

FLYERS 2, BLACKHAWKS 0: Roman Cechmanek stopped 25 shots and Kim Johnsson and Marty Murray scored. Cechmanek has consecutive shutouts and three this season.

CANUCKS 8, THRASHERS 0: Markus Naslund had a goal and five assists as host Vancouver extended its league-best unbeaten streak to 14 (10-0-4). Naslund set up Vancouver's first four goals and scored the sixth.

AVALANCHE 4, OILERS 2: Alex Tanguay scored two goals, and Peter Forsberg added three assists for host Colorado. Avalanche center Joe Sakic returned after missing 15 games with a broken foot.

BLUES: The league suspended forward Keith Tkachuk four games without pay for hitting Wild forward Wes Walz in the head with his stick. Tkachuk will lose $487,804.84 in salary. Also, goalie Curtis Sanford was called up from AHL Worcester and defenseman Christian Backman was sent to Worcester.

PENGUINS: The team sent forwards Michal Sivek and Milan Kraft to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL and recalled defenseman Richard Lintner.

HONOR: Former defenseman Ray Bourque, USA Hockey vice president Ron DeGregario and Willie O'Ree, the league's first black player, will receive Lester Patrick awards for service to hockey March 25 in Boston.

TRADE: Ottawa acquired right wing Vaclav Varada and a fifth-round pick in this year's draft from Buffalo for Jakub Klepis in a deal between bankrupt clubs.
