Cambridge coach Karim Nohra has used the same method for playoff road trips for many years. More often than not, it has worked.

Case in point is Tuesday's three-hour trip to the Community School of Naples, where Cambridge traveled for a Class A, Region 3 semifinal.

"We left the school at 9 a.m., made a pit stop in Fort Myers for lunch at 11:30 a.m., went for a little shoot-around at a gym we had set up and then checked in at the hotel to get the girls off their feet for a few hours," Nohra said. "After that, we got dressed and showed up at the game at about 6:45."

Then the Lancers, with more 200 of their fans cheering, went out and won 70-58.

"Why change a method if it works?" Nohra said.

And that also goes for the game plan, which means using a variety of fullcourt presses while switching it up on offense, going outside to Alexis Walker (game-high 20 points) and Stephanie Grace (19) and inside to Betsy Brown (14).

"Whatever they gave us, we took," Nohra said. "And we stuck with it all the way through."

It was 30-30 at halftime, and after three quarters, Cambridge led only 44-42. That's when the Lancers' press finally appeared to wear down Naples (23-6).

"(Naples) was shooting well until the fourth quarter," Nohra said. "But then they might have gotten a little tired and didn't shoot as well in the fourth."

Cambridge held one of the state's top Class A players, post player Nicole Blake, to only 13 points. In the region quarterfinal, Blake had 29 points, 22 rebounds and seven blocks.

Cambridge hosts the region final Saturday against No. 4-ranked Bradenton Christian, which defeated Indian Rocks Christian 53-49.

Cambridge lost at Bradenton Christian 61-55 earlier this season.
