ST. PETERSBURG -- The University of South Florida St. Petersburg has narrowed to seven the list of candidates for campus leader.

The committee searching for a new vice president and campus executive officer interviewed candidates this week and will ask finalists to return for on-campus visits set to begin March 24.

The committee narrowed the list to the following:

Terry L. Hickey, senior vice president and provost at the University of Akron.

Diane Vines, vice chancellor for corporate and public affairs of the Oregon University System.

Gary Krahenbuhl, senior vice president at Arizona State University.

Karen A. White, dean, professor of music and graduate faculty member of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Delores Cross, past president of Morris Brown College.

Richard S. Millman, program director of the Division of Mathematical Sciences at the National Science Foundation.

Portia Holmes Shields, president, Albany State University.

The applicants are vying to replace Bill Heller, who left Aug. 31. Ralph Wilcox is the interim CEO while the university conducts its national search.

After a second round of interviews, the search committee will recommend the top applicants to USF president Judy Genshaft.
