Calling all cheapskates

Could you be the Tampa Bay area's No. 1 cheapskate?

When we asked that question last year, our thrifty readers responded with a treasure trove of suggestions for saving a buck. But we suspect there are plenty more great ideas out there. If you've got a favorite money-saving tip (or several) that you actually use, we invite you to send it to us for our second annual Times Cheapskate Contest.

We realize it will be hard to top last year's winner, Louis Van Roy, who shared his recipe for making salami-flavored bread sandwiches. (The last day of the week you actually get to eat the salami.) But you may have some great ideas too -- and probably some of them are even a bit more practical than Van Roy's.

And remember, many money experts and millionaires consider the "cheapskate" label a badge of honor.

Please send your ideas along with your name, address and telephone number by e-mail to huntley@sptimes.com or by regular mail to Cheapskate Contest, Helen Huntley, P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg, FL 33731-1121.
