Listen to what the money managers hear

You are not invited to Raymond James & Associates' annual conference for money managers, but you can listen in without driving to Orlando and pressing your ear against the door. All it takes is a computer with an Internet connection.

More than 250 public companies, including some of the Tampa Bay area's largest, will make presentations at the conference today through Wednesday at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando. Top executives, usually the chief executive or chief financial officer, will be pitching their companies' prospects to some very important stock pickers.

Whatever new information they reveal to the money managers they must also disclose to the rest of us, which is where the Web comes in. You can hear most of it by going to www.rjcapitalmarkets.com and following the links for the 24th annual Institutional Investors Conference. You must register to listen to the free Web casts. Most of the sessions will be broadcast live (audio only) and will be available for replay the following day. Many will remain available for up to 30 days.

Only a few of the companies presenting at the conference declined to join the Web cast. Outback Steakhouse said it didn't like the terms of the agreement participants were asked to sign.

Today's presentations include Raymond James Financial, Jabil Circuit and Outback. Tuesday, Tech Data and Global Imaging Systems will have their turns. Wednesday, Paradyne Network, Sykes Enterprises and MarineMax are on the agenda.
