Former Florida State quarterback Adrian McPherson avoided serious injury Monday in a one-car accident on Interstate 75 near Apollo Beach.

McPherson's attorney, Grady Irvin, said McPherson's Ford Expedition blew a tire and flipped several times before landing in the median shortly before 4:30 p.m. McPherson, 19, of Bradenton was wearing his seat belt and was not hurled from his car.

He was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, evaluated and discharged.

McPherson was dismissed from the Seminoles team in November after he was charged with stealing, forging and having a friend cash a $3,500 check.
