Perfection duplicated by Huskies

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut cruised past West Virginia on Tuesday night, then threw a party at center court.

Complete with trophy, caps and T-shirts, there was plenty to celebrate.

The Huskies (29-0, 16-0 Big East) defeated West Virginia (15-12, 4-12) 78-58, extending the nation's longest winning streak to 68. They also finished back-to-back unbeaten regular seasons.

They did it with one returning starter from their NCAA title team, beating Tennessee and Duke along the way.

"To win them all, I think it's been pretty remarkable for this group," coach Geno Auriemma said.

UConn is the second Division I team with consecutive undefeated regular seasons. Vermont did it from 1991-93 with records of 29-0 and 28-0.

NO. 20 VILLANOVA 83, PROVIDENCE 48: Katie Davis scored 26 and Trish Juhline added 22 as the host Wildcats (22-5, 12-4 Big East) earned the third seed in the conference tournament. The Friars (9-18, 3-13) will not participate.

NO. 24 BC 72, NO. 18 RUTGERS 71: Clare Droesch scored 17 as the visiting Eagles (20-7, 12-4 Big East) snapped a season-best 11-game winning streak by the Scarlet Knights (20-6, 13-3) and clinched the conference tournament's second seed.

UM 73, GEORGETOWN 71: Chanivia Broussard had 20 points and four steals in the Hurricanes' (16-11, 8-8 Big East) home finale.

ALL-ACC TEAM: Alana Beard and Iciss Tillis, who led Duke to its second straight undefeated ACC regular season, topped the AP team. North Carolina's Coretta Brown, Clemson's Chrissy Floyd and Georgia Tech's Sonja Mallory rounded out the first team. Florida State's Tasheika Morris was named to the second team.

VIRGINIA: Center Deidra Chatman, who turned away from the American flag during the national anthem, will face the flag during pregame ceremonies. The freshman, 18, turned her back to the flag before a home game against North Carolina on Sunday.
