Spring Hill woman sentenced in scheme to defraud MedicareBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published March 7, 2003 TAMPA -- Renee LaChance Hunter Livio of Spring Hill was sentenced Thursday in federal court for her role in a scheme to defraud Medicare and Medicaid. Livio will spend one year and one day in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for working as a sales representative for a group of seven other people and six corporations that made fraudulent claims based on sales of durable medical equipment, such as motorized wheelchairs and therapeutic mattresses. Livio and other conspirators were indicted by a federal grand jury in January 2002. In November, she pleaded guilty to felony offenses relating to the fraud scheme. The court has ordered that Livio must make $473,848 in restitution to Medicare and Medicaid.
