HERNANDO -- Chuck Carr, a retired Hernando resident, on Thursday became the second candidate to enter the County Commission District 5 race.
Carr, 64, a Republican, has lived in Citrus County for seven years. He formerly worked in industrial welding sales and lived in northwest Illinois. Carr said he was prompted to run by the commission's handling of issues including mandatory garbage collection, which Carr opposes. The incumbent is Josh Wooten, a Democrat
The only other candidate to file preliminary paperwork is former Democratic Party head Joe Cino, who is running without party affiliation.
