EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Jason Sehorn was released by the Giants on Friday after the veteran cornerback refused to accept a pay cut of more than $3-million for next season.
With a $4.3-million salary scheduled this season and a $1-million roster bonus due March 10, Sehorn's status had been in question since the 31-year-old lost his starting job to second-year pro Will Peterson last season.
Sehorn and the Giants discussed reducing his salary to $1-million, but the Giants refused to guarantee that he would not be cut before training camp.
Sehorn's agent, Kyle Rote Jr., did not return calls left at his office. Sehorn was traveling and planned to issue a comment today, the Giants said.
In making the move now, Sehorn will count $8-million against New York's salary cap this season, but he will be off the cap next year. Sehorn had three years remaining on a six-year deal that included a $10-million signing bonus.
Also, veteran punter Jeff Feagles, who spent the past five seasons in Seattle, signed a five-year, $4.3-million contract.
BENGALS: Linebacker Kevin Hardy agreed to a four-year deal worth about $14-million. The Cowboys could not match the guaranteed $5-million in bonuses and salary Hardy will get from Cincinnati.
BILLS: Linebacker Takeo Spikes signed an offer sheet, but must wait seven days to see if the Bengals match the offer. Also, receiver Charles Johnson re-signed.
BROWNS: Defensive tackle Alvin McKinley was re-signed to a four-year contract.
CHARGERS: Free-agent receiver David Boston signed a seven-year deal and is guaranteed $11.5-million the first two years. Boston averaged 15.5 yards per catch in his four-year career at Arizona. Also, defensive end Adrian Dingle was re-signed to a three-year deal.
EAGLES: Fullback Jon Ritchie signed a two-year, $1.5-million contract. He spent his five-year career with the Raiders, catching a career-low 10 passes last season.
FALCONS: Peerless Price was obtained from the Bills for a first-round pick. Price had 94 receptions for 1,252 yards and nine touchdowns last season. He agreed to a seven-year contract, and his agent, Tim McGee, said the signing bonus was at least $10-million and total compensation between $35- to 40-million.
JETS: Veteran punter Matt Turk was released.
SAINTS: Kicker John Carney and punter Mitch Berger, who played last season with the Rams, signed five-year deals.
