Gov. Jeb Bush on Friday announced the appointments of Judith C. Whitehead, 59, of Brooksville and Talmadge "Jerry" Rice, 61, of Dade City to the governing board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

Whitehead, who owns Residential Appraisal Service in Brooksville, succeeds Monroe "Al" Coogler of Citrus County. She was appointed to a four-year term that ends in March 2007.

Rice, also appointed to a four-year term, is co-owner of Century 21 Prime Property Resources Inc. in Bushnell. He succeeds John Renke III, now a circuit judge in Pasco County.

Both appointments require confirmation by the Florida Senate.
