NEW PORT RICHEY -- A man killed his wife, then killed himself Saturday at their home in the River Crossing subdivision just east of New Port Richey, authorities said.

Charles D. Musser, 63, shot his wife, Judith L. Musser, 59, with a handgun, then shot himself with a shotgun in their home at 9013 Bearcat Road, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

The motive for the murder-suicide was unknown, said Pasco sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll.

After he shot his wife, Charles Musser called family members who were boating in the Gulf of Mexico, and told them to come home immediately, police said. By the time they got home about 2:30 p.m., Charles Musser had killed himself. Family members called 911.
