A Clearwater woman is facing charges of driving under the influence-manslaughter after she turned herself in to Florida Highway Patrol troopers Monday morning.

Kasey Severance, 30, turned herself in at the Pasco County jail in Land O'Lakes. She is facing charges of DUI-manslaughter, DUI with property damage and DUI.

According to troopers, Severance was driving a 1996 Pontiac Sunbird north on U.S. 19 near Windsor Mill Drive in Hudson on Feb. 9. The car crossed the median into the southbound lanes and struck a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice driven by Christina R. Strickland of Hudson.

Strickland died at the scene. Severance was injured and required hospitalization.

According to the Highway Patrol, Severance's blood-alcohol level was 0.22 percent after the accident. Florida law presumes impairment at 0.08 percent.

Severance was released from the Land O'Lakes jail Monday afternoon on $10,500 bail.
