TAMPA -- Hillsborough County Commissioner Tom Scott, an African-American pastor who represents central Tampa, threw his support Wednesday to former Elections Supervisor Pam Iorio's bid for mayor.

Scott, pastor of the 34th Street Church of God, said Iorio believes in diversity and wants to unify east and west Tampa.

County Commissioner Pat Frank, who spoke at a news conference Wednesday against Iorio, has been actively campaigning for business consultant Frank Sanchez. Frank has done radio commercials touting Sanchez's campaign.
