Four times the St. Patrick's Day fun
The owners of O'Keefe's claim their St. Patrick's Day celebrations -- a tradition that goes back decades -- are the biggest in the state, attracting thousands for green beer and corned beef served under huge green-and-white striped tents.
Since St. Patrick's Day falls on Monday this year, the restaurant and bar will stretch the festivities over four days, though the music is decidedly un-Irish until Monday.
It all starts at 5 p.m. Friday with a St. Patrick's Extravaganza featuring Cajun and Zydeco music by Gris Gris and Gumbo Boogie. The tent opens at 2 p.m. Saturday with a classic car show and oldies music. Get Back! The Cast of Beatlemania performs at 8, followed by rockers the Barracudas at 10.
Sunday's Jamaican Island Party starts at 1 p.m., with calypso and reggae by Matthew and Network Rhythm at 1 p.m., followed by a Jimmy Buffett tribute by Johnny Rio at 8.
The biggest party, however, kicks up Monday.
The tent opens at 11 a.m. Irish singer Jack Ford begins the live music at 1 p.m. Marcille Wallis and Ceol Binn perform Irish reels, jigs and traditional songs and dances at 4. The Irish Descendants close the show at 8 p.m.
