Dance to help child

Show off your dance steps at the Northdale Civic Association St. Patrick's Day Dance-A-Thon. Saturday offers a chance to benefit the Brittany Zipter Fund through several forms of sponsorship. Those interested can dance, sponsor a dancer, exhibit corporate sponsorship or make a direct donation. Brittany battles a severe form of bone cancer, osteo-sarcoma, and all proceeds from the fund aid the Zipter family in medical expenses.

The dancers boogie from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Northdale Recreation Center, 15550 Spring Pine Drive. For information, call 785-8542.

Sweets and songs

The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the school, 16200 N Dale Mabry Highway. Admission is a donation, suggested at $15. Call 909-9789.

Collectors get ready

Be careful when scratching your head at today's auction, presented by Flamingo Fling. The highest bidder will walk away with Christmas ornament prototypes and one of a kind collectibles following a charity dinner at Embassy Suites hotel. On Saturday, take in the ninth annual Secondary Market Collectible Show. Artists including Anna Greashaber of Harmony Kingdom and Anita Rogers of Hallmark will present and sign their works. All proceeds from the event benefit Southeastern Guide Dogs. Doors open for the dinner at 5 p.m., 3705 Spectrum Blvd. Admission is $35. The collectible show runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., $5. Call 971-7402.

Pipes and pints on Paddy's Day

It's not just the Irish who luck out at Bennigan's. Jig into the restaurant today, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for one dollar green beer. Live bagpipes and local musicians will be featured Monday.

The eatery is at 9206 Anderson Road. Bagpipes sound off from 5-6 p.m., with more music to follow. Call 249-0866.
