Translator will assist residentsBy JACKIE RIPLEY, Times Staff Writer© St. Petersburg Times published March 14, 2003 TOWN 'N COUNTRY -- Helping Hillsborough's Spanish-speaking residents understand the various county services available has long been a pet project of Tony Morejon, the county's Hispanic Affairs liaison. "We want to inform people how to participate," Morejon said. "We're missing half the community here." With help from County Commissioner Kathy Castor, that project is about to come to fruition. "There's great room for improvement," Castor said. "There are so many county publications and a directory of county services" that can be translated. Already, the county has hired a translator to provide a Spanish version of basic services in Hillsborough County government pamphlets and on its Web page, Morejon said. "We need a little pamphlet made available to the Latin community," Morejon said. "Just the basics."
