27 homes sought on 23 acresBy Times Staff Writer© St. Petersburg Times published March 16, 2003 CARROLLWOOD: A zoning hearing officer is scheduled on Tuesday to hear plans again for a 27-home subdivision where Bern's Steak House once harvested vegetables. County commissioners remanded the petition months ago, asking developer Hung Mai to modify the application from a standard rezoning to a planned development designation. This change allows the county to place strict conditions on the development, said Dyan Backe of the Planning & Growth Management Department. Site plans show all homes on the eastern 23 acres of the property. The western 19 acres will be used as a retention pond and an access road connecting to Hampton Village Drive. (Petition 02-0790) CITRUS PARK: A request to build an office park along Gunn Highway goes before a zoning hearing officer on Monday. The owners of the 2.25-acre parcel at Cain Road want to build two two-story office buildings with a total of 19,500 square feet. The zoning now allows homes with a minimum lot size of 1 acre. (Petition 03-0276) UPPER TAMPA BAY: Davis Development will seek approval Tuesday to construct a 336-unit multifamily housing complex instead of a mixed-use development on 42 acres at the southwest corner of Hillsborough Avenue and Double Branch Road. The site is now approved for 170,000 square feet of commercial space and 25 single-family homes. (Petition 03-0247) TOWN 'N COUNTRY: DRP Co. of Alabama wants to build a small business warehouse on nearly 2 acres off Benjamin Road. The rezoning would permit manufacturing uses on the property now zoned for agricultural, mining, solid waste or outdoor purposes. The request is scheduled to be heard Monday. (Petition 03-0373) CITRUS PARK: On Tuesday a zoning hearing master will hear development plans for 40-home subdivision on nearly 16 acres at the southeast corner of Gant and Cain roads near Westfield Shoppingtown Citrus Park. Proposed lot sizes range from 5,500 square feet to 10,000 square feet. (Petition 03-0116) TOWN 'N COUNTRY: A request that would allow six two-bedroom units on .59 acres on Jackson Springs Road has been withdrawn. (Petition 03-0369) When and where: Hearings of county zoning hearing masters and land use hearing officers, and land use meetings of the County Commission are held on the second floor of the County Center, 601 E Kennedy Blvd. Zoning hearings begin at 6 p.m., and commission meetings begin at 9 a.m. Both are televised on government access channels.
