Military newsBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published March 19, 2003 Petty Officer 3rd Class Jeff Brouse, son of Donna Royal of St. Petersburg and grandson of June and Tom Lewis of Largo, has returned from deployment to the Mediterranean Sea aboard the USS George Washington and was recently promoted to his current rank. He is stationed in Norfolk, Va. He has received the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Force's Expeditionary Medal and the Navy Good Conduct Medal. He attended St. Petersburg High School. Pvt. Michael H. West, son of Jean and Edwin West of Indian Rocks Beach, has graduated from Army Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He is stationed at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C., and is pursuing a career in law enforcement. He is a 2002 graduate of Largo High School. Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Perry C. Beasley, son of Pamela C. and Brian Snyder of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.
