Here's a look at some new businesses in the area:
FOOD FOR ALL: Mimi's Cafe opens at 617 Providence Road in Brandon in early April. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available. Specialties include eggs Florentine and Artie's fettucini. Mimi's Cafe also is famous for its New Orleans Bread Pudding, which is made from scratch. Entree prices are $14 or less. Hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. www.mimiscafe.com. 265-4460.
SOUP AND SANDWICHES: Crispers restaurant is scheduled to open in April at 11019 Causeway Blvd. The chain specializes in fresh salads with homemade dressings, sandwiches, soups and sweet desserts. SUBS AND SALADS: Subway opened at 3208 Lithia Pinecrest Road in Valrico on March 1. Subs like the sweet onion teriyaki and the Italian sub are popular picks. Salads and wraps are also on the menu. Prices range between $3 and $6. Hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday. 662-6697.
TASTY TAKE OUT: Chinese food and sushi now can be ordered and picked up at China 1, 125 Bloomingdale Ave. It opened Feb. 4. Chow mein and lo mein are offered as well as combination meals, house specials and sushi, starting at $3.95. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
