Auburn's keys to victory

1. PERIMETER DEFENSE: Everybody knows how effective Jameer Nelson can be for Saint Joseph's. But the Hawks have one of nation's best 3-point shooters in Pat Carroll, who ranks third in percentage and has 76 3-pointers this season. In losses to Kentucky and LSU, the Tigers didn't defend the 3.

2. ELIMINATE SECOND-SHOT OPPORTUNITIES: The Hawks go 7-1, and 6-10 with center Alexandre Sazonov and forward Dave Mallon, respectively. The Tigers won't have many easy looks inside, so they can't allow putbacks. Two of Saint Joseph's best rebounders are guards, so the Tigers will have to keep an eye on everyone around the basket, not just the big men.

3. GET BRANDON ROBINSON INVOLVED: The super sub is feeling healthy again and just had 19 points and nine rebounds against Kentucky in the SEC tournament. The Tigers aren't very deep and Robinson must give them productive minutes.

4. PROTECT THE BASKETBALL: The Hawks like to pressure the ball and force turnovers and hurried shots. It's not unlike the style that Auburn saw Ole Miss play this season. Sophomore Lewis Monroe, the Tigers point guard, must be in control.

5. PLAY LOOSE: Marquis Daniels is the only Tigers player with real NCAA experience. He will have a big rooting section from Orlando, but Auburn's other young players must be aggressive from the opening tip.
