Auburn bounces Seminole women

AUBURN, Ala. -- Natasha Brackett scored 20 and Tia Miller 15 as Auburn advanced to the women's quarterfinals with a 68-57 win over Florida State on Sunday.

Le'Coe Willingham added 11 points for the Tigers (20-11), who play Richmond on Saturday.

Tasheika Morris led the Seminoles (17-13) with 14 points. Reserve Lauren Bradley scored 12.

Miller scored 10 in the first eight minutes as Auburn took an 18-6 lead. The Tigers led by as much as 15 and took a 39-26 edge into halftime.

Florida State narrowed the gap to 48-43 on a 3-pointer by Linnea Liljestrand with 7:36 to play. But the Tigers responded with a 3 by LaKeisha Johnson and another jumper by Miller to push the lead back to double digits.

The Seminoles cut the lead to seven with 2:35 to play, but they missed their last four shots, all 3-pointers.

Men

SIENA 68, W. MICH. 62: Prosper Karangwa scored 25 as the Saints continued their mastery at their offcampus home in Albany.

Siena won its first two tournament games at Pepsi Arena. Based in nearby Loudonville, Siena improved to 7-1 at its larger home away from home.

Siena hosts Alabama-Birmingham on Tuesday for a spot in the quarterfinals.
