Tree worker killed by falling limb in Dover

DOVER -- A 49-year-old Dover man died on Tuesday after a large tree branch fell on him.

Hillsborough sheriff's deputies said Rickey Gene Garey, who works for Dennis and Lisa's Tree Trimming in Dover, was about 30 feet up in a tree at 2709 Dover Road N when the accident happened just after noon.

They said another worker was trimming branches from a nearby cherry picker and cut loose a branch about 20 feet long and 8 inches in diameter that fell on Garey. Garey was flown by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, where he died about 4 p.m., officials said.
