The concerts are Sonny LaRosa's America's Youngest Jazz Band on April 5 and Klezmer and All that Jazz on April 26. Both concerts will have 3 and 7 p.m. performances. Concerts are at the church. The concert features the Hernando Symphony Orchestra, the Suzuki Strings and Milo's Dixieland Band. Singers Tom Russell and Leanne Germann will perform Broadway selections. Tickets are $5. Call 686-3724. SYMPHONY SEASON: The Hernando Symphony Orchestra will continue its concert season with performances April 12, 22 and 27. The concert's theme is Dance and Solo and features Mozart's Symphony No. 41 (Jupiter) and the Russian Sailors' Dance by Reinhold Giliere. Performing with the orchestra will be some of Hernando County's top young artists, Joel Brown, 13, Christina Adams, 13, and Ben De Angelis, 11. Reserved seats are $9. CURTAIN CALLS The first Hernando County Karaoke Contest will begin April 17 during the Hernando County Fair in the auditorium at the fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St., Brooksville. Preliminary competition will begin at 2 p.m. April 17; if needed, preliminaries may also run April 19 and 22. The finals will begin at 5:30 p.m. April 23. The host and master of ceremonies will be Kevin Longhorn of Longhorn Karaoke. There will be four categories of competition: female soloist, male soloist, children soloists (age 17 and younger) and group vocalists. Groups may include duets, trios, quartets and choirs. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first-place winner in each category. Contestants are required to pay a nonrefundable $5 entry fee per soloist; $20 for a group. Entry forms are available in the Hernando County Fairgrounds office. Forms and fees must be received by April 12. Call the fair office at 796-4552, or call 596-2027 or 688-2228. The Hernando County Fine Arts Council is accepting applications from artists and crafters for the 19th annual Hernando County Art, Craft and Music Festival on May 24 and 25 at Tom Varn Park in Brooksville. Only artists displaying their own original work may participate in the juried show. More than $5,000 in cash awards will be given. The deadline for entries is May 5.
