GIBSONTON -- A 4-year-old boy is recovering after being hit by a car while walking through Gibsonton with his sister and cousin Wednesday evening.

Jacob Michael Decaire was walking along Symmes Road with his 16-year-old sister and 14-year-old cousin when, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, he was struck by a car traveling about 30 mph.

The driver, Michael Martinez-Moran, 27, of Riverview hit his brakes but was unable to stop in time, police said.

Decaire was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was listed in good condition Thursday night.
