Teenager, man face kidnapping chargesBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published March 29, 2003 BROOKSVILLE -- A Palatka man and a Brooksville teenager were arrested Thursday after authorities said they threatened to shoot a man if he did not make good on a $100 debt. Roderick D. Reynolds, 26, and Richard L. Frazier, 16, were charged with false imprisonment, armed robbery, armed carjacking and kidnapping. They are accused of holding a gun to Jonathan M. Tanner's crotch, beating him and forcing him into his pickup truck, according to a Sheriff's Office report. Frazier, of 300 Zoller St., Brooksville, was also charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was being held Friday at the Hernando County Jail in lieu of $95,000 bail. Reynolds also was being held in lieu of $95,000. According to the sheriff's report, Reynolds and Frazier approached Tanner, 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the residence of William MacCalop, 216 Zoller St., and said that he owed them $100. Reynolds punched Tanner in the face, pointed the gun at him and forced Tanner into his pickup truck. The pair told Tanner to drive home to get the money from his father, Victor Tanner. The 51-year-old father called authorities. Authorities were uncertain why Jonathan Tanner might have owed Reynolds and Frazier money.
