This week, county government will begin holding town hall meetings so residents can discuss the issue of mandatory garbage collection.

County Commissioner Josh Wooten proposed the meetings in February during a contentious commission meeting where the garbage issue was discussed.

Commissioners decided to put any decision about the topic on hold indefinitely.

County staff will attend each meeting along with a county commissioner.

Here's the meeting schedule:

6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Historic Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Square, Inverness. (Wooten)

7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Citrus Springs Community Center, 1570 W Citrus Springs Blvd. (Vicki Phillips)

7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Crystal River High School cafeteria, 1205 NE Eighth Ave. (Roger Batchelor)

6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, West Citrus Community Center, 8940 W Veterans Drive, Homosassa. (Gary Bartell)

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Masonic Building, 111 W Main St., Inverness. (Jim Fowler)

7 to 9 p.m. April 7, Beverly Hills Recreation Association, 77 Civic Circle, Beverly Hills. (Vicki Phillips)
