TAMPA - Steve Carmen's single scored Stephen Locke from third base, giving King a marathon 12-inning 6-5 victory over visiting Hillsborough on Tuesday night.
The hit made a winner out of left-hander Brian Pawlowski, who wiggled out of a bases-loaded no-out jam in the 11th. Pawlowski entered the game with one out in the ninth and kept things close in 32/3 innings of relief.
King (10-3) rallied three times and forced extra innings with the game knotted 3-3. The Lions tied it again 4-4 in the eighth before Carmen's single concluded a two-run rally in the 12th.
Terrier left-hander Ryan Clark pitched well in defeat, striking out 13 in eight innings.
The game featured nine errors, five by King and four by Hillsborough (19-5).
The Terriers took a 5-4 lead in the top of the 12th when David Veale scored on the front end of a double steal when third baseman Zach Grace dropped the catcher's throw.
In the bottom of the 12th, King rallied when pinch-runner Dane Tewmey scored on a wild pitch by Hillsborough reliever Michael Garcia, who took the loss.
