THE BIG FINISH: With production on the final season of Sex and the City just over a week old, reports are that Mr. Big already is hinting that the series will end early next year with his marrying Carrie.

Chris Noth says he will appear sporadically during the season for interaction with Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays his sometimes significant/sometimes insignificant other. As for specifics, this is as specific as Noth gets, IMDB.com says: "It's a show that won't end with a period, exclamation mark or a question mark. It will end with a dash."

THE CARRIE FINISH: This reminds us of the way Parker once said she would like the series to end: with Mr. Big walking away from her . . . as she yells after him "Wait! Wait! What's your name?!"

IF YOU'D HAVE BEEN THERE, WE BETCHA YOU WOULD HAVE VOTED THE SAME: The honors just keep piling up for Catherine Zeta-Jones. The latest: She earned the top spot in a British poll on which celebrities most deserve a comeuppance.

This is what happens when you sell your wedding pictures to a celebrity magazine, another celebrity magazine takes pictures for free and prints them, and you take the magazine that didn't pay you to court claiming it invaded your privacy.

Such have been the travails of Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas, who are awaiting a court verdict in England over photos from their November 2000 wedding. The case has gotten a lot of publicity over there, and the public has not been sympathetic to the Douglases' cause.

BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY WON'T: The men teenage girls know they better not bring home to Mom, according to a TeenPeople.com poll:

1. Marilyn Manson; 2. Eminem; 3. 50 Cent; 4. R. Kelly; 5. Vin Diesel; 6. Snoop Dogg; 7. Colin Farrell; 8. Tommy Lee; 9. Shane West; 10. Kid Rock.

Not that Mom couldn't be persuaded to spend some quality time with Colin Farrell . . .

AND MAYBE IF IT STARRED COLIN FARRELL: Just as the success of Chicago has made musicals popular in Hollywood again, The Pianist has boosted character studies. So, Miramax is planning a movie about a young man trying to become the national Scrabble champion, the Hollywood Reporter says. The working title: Your Word Against Mine.
