DADE CITY -- A woman injured in a Tuesday car accident on U.S. 301 has been upgraded to good condition at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, officials said Thursday.

Mary Jane Bartlett, 42, of 40916 Marx Ave., in Zephyrhills, had just picked up her son from East Pasco Adventist Educational Center about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when she was broadsided by a semitrailer truck.

She and her son, 14-year-old Charles Bartlett, were airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. Paramedics said Charles, a seventh-grader at the school, was placed on life support when he got to the hospital; but at the family's request, St. Joseph's could not release any information about the boy's condition.

The trucker, Carlos Hopkins, 30, of Macon, Ga., was not injured.
