Class A Northside Christian will make its first trip to state after Bobby Dare (119 pounds), David Dare (139) and Jason Kruck (169) finished third in their weight classes at last week's section meets.

Northside coach Bob Dare said he hoped two would qualify, but three was a surprise.

"We haven't competed very heavily -- just in the county," the Mustangs coach said. "It's a new frontier in a way."

Keswick Christian senior Cris Schooley also qualified, placing third in the 183-pound class with a 495 total.

Class 2A East Lake finished with a pair at the top of the 139-pound weight class. Senior Kalin Chester placed first with a total of 465, and teammate Ed Demas finished right behind with 415. Munir Muwwakil, a junior at Pinellas Park, lifted 335 in the bench press and 275 in the clean and jerk for a 610 total, tops at the section meet.

The state tournaments will be held April 26. The Class A competition will be at Suwannee High in Live Oak and the Class 2A meet will be at Spruce Creek High in Port Orange.
