After you cruise through Mainsail Arts Festival, stop in at two top St. Petersburg galleries nearby, both featuring new exhibitions. Note that neither is open on Sunday.

Herbert Davis: South of Central -- Gallery Enormous, 540 Central Ave., open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Exhibit of pastel drawings by this noted artist created with a grant from the City of St. Petersburg to focus on the African-American community and organized by the Gulf Coast Museum of Art. Gallery Enormous is one of the best in the area and, in addition to this current show, offers more thought-provoking art for show and sale. (727) 551-9865.

Lisa Williamson: The Painterly Garden -- Florida Craftsmen Gallery, 501 Central Ave., open 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Nature and art join in the fiber works of Williamson, who combines her Appalachian heritage of quiltmaking with a painterly eye for form and color in this vibrant exhibition of mixed media works. (727) 821-7391.
