The Hernando County Fair goes "wild and western" today through April 27 at the fairgrounds on the south side of Brooksville.
In keeping with this year's theme, organizers have planned championship rodeo events Friday and Saturday with more than 400 professional rodeo riders scheduled to compete. Children's events and rodeo clowns will be a part of the show. Tickets are $12 and include fair admission.
The fair will be kicking up more dirt April 25-27, this time with squealing tires and revving engines. Motocross and all-terrain vehicle racing will take on the fairground track with spills, thrills and chills. Tickets are $10 and include fair admission.
Former members of the Mad Beach Band -- T.C. Carr, Pete Merrigan and Lenny Austin -- will reunite for a concert to benefit the Coalition for Anti-Urban Sprawl and the Environment. Three performances are scheduled April 26 and 27. Tickets are $12 and include fair admission.
Youth livestock events are planned throughout the 11-day run of the fair, and a midway will be set up on the grounds.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4 to 12, and free for children 3 and younger. The Hernando County Fairgrounds are on U.S. 41 on the south side of Brooksville.
