DANCE AND SOLO: The Hernando Symphony Orchestra concludes its 2002-03 season with its "Dance and Solo" concert, featuring Mozart's Symphony No. 41 (Jupiter) and Reinhold Gliere's Russian Sailors' Dance, with performances Tuesday and April 27. Guest performers are Joel Brown, 13, and Johnathan Johnson, 12, cello; Christina Adams, 13, violin; and Ben De Angelis, 11, euphonium. Reserved seats are $9. NATURAL BEAUTY: The work of Spring Hill Art League artist of the month Lucille Blessin will be on display through April during business hours at the Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, 10005 Cortez Blvd. in Spring Hill. DRAGONS IN PARADISE: The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum, 1 Courthouse Square, Inverness, features the exhibition Alligators: Dragons in Paradise, through May 28. The exhibit includes artifacts such as alligator shoes and clothing, reproductions of skulls and a simulated nest complete with eggs. A park ranger at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, Mike Werwetz, will discuss alligators and their habitats at 1 p.m. March 29 at the second floor courthouse of the museum. Free admission. LOOK AHEAD

CRUISE ON IN: The Spring Hill Cruisers will host its 15th annual '50s Night Classic Car Show from 3 to 9 p.m. April 26 at Hardee's Restaurant at U.S 19 and State Road 50 in Weeki Wachee. All makes of cars, trucks, custom vehicles made in 1983 or before are welcome. Registration is from 3 to 6 p.m. and is $15. Spectators are free. There will be cash door prizes, '50s and '60s music and other entertainment. Call 596-0729.

WELCOME BACK SONGBIRDS: Chinsegut Nature Center north of Brooksville will host its annual Welcome Back Songbirds event from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Earth Day, April 26. The event, which includes bird banding, a wildflower walk, hikes and other activities, is free. To reach the center, take U.S. 41 north of Brooksville 7 miles, then turn left on County Road 476 and go 1 mile. The nature center is on the left side of the road. Call 754-6722.

HOP ON THE TRAIL: Grand opening ceremonies for the Suncoast Trail will start at 8 a.m. April 26 with a bike ride beginning at Crews Lake Park in Shady Hills, followed by a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. at the trailhead at State Road 50 west of Brooksville. The trail parallels the Suncoast Parkway. The event is free. Call 754-4154.

SPRINGTIME IN THE GRASS: The Sertoma Youth Ranch will have its annual Spring Bluegrass Festival on April 25-27 at the ranch, off Spring Lake Highway on Myers Road in southeast Hernando County. Weekend admission is $35. Camping is available. Call 783-7205.

CURTAIN CALLS

A well-behaved dog is being sought by Richey Suncoast Theatre to play Sandy in the theater's production of the musical Annie. The dog should be medium size, brown, sweet-tempered, calm and able to follow directions. Director is Charlie Skelton. Production dates are May 15 and weekends from May 16 to June 1. Stage West Community Playhouse will have auditions for the musical Little Shop of Horrors at 7 p.m. May 2 and at 1 p.m. May 3 at the theater, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Men and women ages 16 to 45 are encouraged to come dressed comfortably to demonstrate dance ability. Singers should bring sheet music to sing with an accompanist. Show dates are July 18-20 and 25-27.
