Five finalists to interview today for Pinellas AD position

Five finalists will interview today to replace Pinellas County Activities Director Bob Hosack when he retires at the end of the school year.

The candidates are:

Donna Blumer, athletic coordinator at Dixie Hollins High.

Tom Brittain, assistant principal of athletics at Dunedin.

Liz Collins, assistant principal of athletics at Countryside.

Sonny Hester, athletic director at Jesuit.

Walter Weller, assistant principal of athletics at Dixie Hollins.

Among those on the interview committe are Clearwater principal Nick Grasso and Seminole pricipal Rick Misenti.

No date has been set for when a recommendation will be made.

The Pinellas County activities director job has been open since Hosack announced he was retiring last summer.

Hosack, 61, is in a lucrative retirement plan that requires participants to leave five years after signing up. He has been acitvities director the past 19 years. His last day is June 30.

"Bob has been has done a great job and whoever gets the job will have some big shoes to fill," Grasso said. "I'm confident, though, in the candidates that we have. They're all very qualified."
