Math miscue favors Storm

The Storm is in the playoffs after all. Despite losing 49-45 to Colorado on Sunday, Tampa Bay (9-3) joined Los Angeles (9-3) in clinching an Arena Football League postseason berth thanks to an Avengers win and losses by Indiana and Chicago. The Colorado loss, in which the Storm squandered a 25-point halftime lead, initially was thought to keep Tampa Bay from clinching for at least another week. The league acknowledged Monday it made a mistake. "It was a miscalculation," league spokesperson Jennifer Boehm said. The Storm extended its league-record playoff streak to 13 seasons, but coach Tim Marcum said his team's primary goal is to secure the No. 1 seed and homefield throughout. "The most important thing is to be the highest seed," he said.

Center Rod Williams had an MRI exam to determine the extent of a knee injury sustained against Colorado on Sunday. A preliminary diagnosis revealed a torn medial collateral ligament in Williams' left knee, expected to sideline him five to six weeks.
