Triathlon by the bay
This weekend, for the 20th year, athletes from around the country will converge on the St. Petersburg waterfront for the St. Anthony's Triathlon.
The events start early Saturday with the Meek and Mighty Triathlon for ages 7 to 14 and for novice adults. Limited slots are available for the Meek and Mighty. Signup is Friday at the athlete check-in area in Straub Park.
The ITU Triathlon World Cup, with 150 top international triathletes, takes place from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The St. Anthony's Triathlon (USAT Regional Championship) is from 7:30 a.m. to noon Sun. Triathlon registration is closed, but spectators are welcome at all events, which take place at Straub Park, the Pier and Spa Beach, all downtown. (727) 825-1271 or www.satriathlon.com.
