A pop art birthday
Charles Fazzino is an inheritor of the Pop Art movement, and his work has a Red Grooms look to it, though more commercial. And like Peter Max, another pop artist, he has a highly developed social conscience. Fazzino will attend several opening events pegged to a show of his work at Nuance Galleries, 804 S Dale Mabry, Tampa, on Friday and Saturday, with a percentage of sales going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Fazzino will sign any purchases and also donated three serigraphs to the sale. Gallery owner Robert Rowen, who turned 50 this month, decided to organize the fundraisers instead of having a birthday party. The receptions are from 7 to 9 p.m. both nights and are free. A lunch on Saturday, donated by Ruth's Chris, requires a $75 ticket, with proceeds going to the association. And many happy returns, Robert. Nuance Galleries: (813) 875-0511.
