South Florida center Will McDonald has been invited to the Chicago predraft camp June 4-6 at the Moody Bible Institute. He is among 60 players chosen to attend the camp by NBA director of scouting Marty Blake, based on requests to Blake by each NBA team.
The 6-foot-11, 255-pound McDonald had a standout performance this month at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament for college seniors, averaging 19.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in three games.
McDonald also has a workout scheduled May 19 with the Memphis Grizzlies. He led USF in scoring (15.9) and rebounding (8.1) this season. The draft is June 26.
McDonald's attorney, George Bedell, said McDonald was entered in a diversion program at his arraignment April 14 on misdemeanor domestic battery charges.
McDonald, 23, was arrested Jan. 24 on charges of false imprisonment, a felony, and battery. Prosecutors dropped the felony charge March 13. Bedell said the program will last six or 12 months, and if McDonald "completes certain conditions, the state will drop the charges."
ARKANSAS: A federal judge gave former coach Nolan Richardson's lawyers until May 21 to respond to the university's motion to dismiss Richardson's discrimination lawsuit.
Richardson is suing the university, three school officials and the Razorback Foundation, claiming he was fired because he is an African-American and outspoken.
3-POINT AWARDS: Terrence Woods of Florida A&M and Caity Matter of Ohio State won the Steitz Award as the nation's best 3-point shooters, the Hall of Fame announced.
Woods averaged five 3-pointers a game and shot 45.7 percent from 3-point range this season. Matter shot 45.1 percent.
