Comedy -- The Asolo Theatre production of Allan Knee's dance comedy Syncopation runs May 2-25 in the Cook Theatre in Sarasota. $29, $31.

Dance -- Moving Current performs works by Leymis Bolanos, Maria Capitano, Nathan Dryden, Peter Kalivas and other choreographers May 9-10 at USF in Tampa. $6, $12.

Sex -- Gil Perlroth's Sex and Sensibility stars Emilia Sargent, Lauren Olipra and Mary Ross on May 9-11 at Hickman Theater in Gulfport. $15, $18.

Violin -- Lara St. John plays Prokofiev's Second Violin Concerto on May 9-11 with the Florida Orchestra. $20-$42.

Russia -- The operetta Elizabeth of Russia by David Ohrenstein (music) and Sharon Lesley (book and lyrics) is performed at the Palladium on May 10-11. $8-$12.

Monologues -- Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues, with Paige Davis, Gretchen Lee Kritch and Joyce Lee, is at Van Wezel Hall in Sarasota on May 13-18. $25-$45.
